The Ouray National Historic District

This study characterizes the architectural mix of the buildings within the Ouray Historic District and determines the conformity with existing and proposed national and local historic preservation guidelines.

Please note that it is a large file (approx. 22 megabytes) that takes some time to download. A copy is available at the Ouray Historical Museum for inspection.

The study was part of the charge to the task force by the Ouray City Council. The study expands upon the recent survey of the Historic District conducted by Cathleen Norman. This report is one product of the study, which was a joint project for the City Council and the Ouray County Historical Society. The report has not yet been officially accepted by either organization.

Comments by any interested party are encouraged before the report is finalized. The final report was issued early Summer, 2006. Printed or digital copies are available at cost from the City of Ouray and OCHS.
