Ashley House
505 Fourth Street
Year Not Known
This elaborate Queen Anne Victorian home, built by Dr. W. W. Ashley and his wife Emma, has retained most of its original architectural flavor with bay and stained glass windows, multiple cross gables, patterned shingles and spindled porch rails. In 1960 Willis and Elizabeth Cohu bought the house which he then lovingly restored making several changes. Originally it had two parlors and a circular stairway leading to the maid's room above the kitchen. Mr. Cohu removed the stairway and combined the two parlors into one. An Australian family purchased the house in 1995.
