Evenings of History - 2014*

For more than three decades the Ouray County Historical Society has offered a series of summer evening lectures on historical topics. All talks begin at 7:30 pm. The dates and topics for the eight 2014 Evening in History lectures are given below:

June 17, Larry Meckel, Geology of the Northwest San Juan Mountain , sponsored by Glenda Moore.

June 24, Steve Baker, The Uncompahgre Valley Ute Project

July 1, Jerry Frank, Making Rocky Mountain National Park: The Environmental History of an American Treasure

July 8, Don Paulson, Historic Grocery Stores of Ouray County

July 15, Richard Wilshusen, Mesa Verde and the Ancestral Puebloans, sponsored by Ted and Marianne Zegers

July 22, Carolyne Kelly, The People Behind the Mountain Top and Grandview Mines, sponsored by Don and Beth Paulson.

July 29, Jonathon Horn, Westward Ho, History of the Wagon Roads in our Part of Western Colorado, sponsored by Kevin and Joan Chismire

August 5, Brad Wallis, The History of the Sherbino Family and the Sherbino Theater

*The first six talks take place at 7:30 pm at the Ouray Community Center and the last two take place at 7:30 pm at the Sherbino Theater in Ridgway.
