505 Main Street
1886 - 1887
The Ouray Real Estate & Building Association built this grand hotel and named it the Beaumont. Construction began in 1886. This beautiful structure was completed at a cost of $75,000. The Grand Opening gala took place July 25, 1887. In its early days the lavishly furnished hotel with its elegant dining room was perhaps the finest hotel in Western Colorado. The architectural style is a mix of Queen Anne and French with a Mesker Brothers cast iron facade and a slate Mansard roof. Today, the Beaumont is being faithfully and meticulously restored to its original grandeur by its present owners with the expectation of re-opening the hotel mid 2002. The Beaumont is on the National Register of Historic Places.
